Ray learned that he was getting post processor development and support directly from SolidCAM and not from a third party. He also really liked that SolidCAM includes all post edits with subscription maintenance. To that end, it was convincing for Ray to learn that SolidCAM has a team of local post developers who provide complete custom posts with well-structured code. During SolidCAM’s demo, Ray stated that a “Bullet Proof Post” was a high priority in his choice of CAM software. Ray reviewed both MasterCAM and SolidCAM. But Ray Casola, VP of Operations, liked that CAMWorks integrated with SOLIDWORKS and wanted to have that same capability as they were considering a replacement CAM software. CAMWorks had some shortcomings with lathes and inadequate Machine Simulation. The company’s CAM software prior to adopting SolidCAM was CAMWorks. Ray Machine specializes in precision machining to tight tolerances on a production level. SolidCAM Inc’s Daniel Birk beat out CAMWorks and MasterCAM by pushing Custom Posts, Advanced Lathe programming and powerful simulation.
